THERE ARE NO GOOD DAYS OR BAD DAYS
As a child, I was seen as weak, both physically and emotionally, which made me an easy target for bullying. Determined to change this image, I spent my twenties and thirties building physical strength, thinking that bulking up could compensate for my inner weaknesses. During this time, I also developed a very competitive mindset, first within myself and later in the company I founded. We promoted a strong sales culture where only the strong thrived, and the weak were quickly left behind. This approach fueled rapid growth and gave us an aggressive edge in the market.
However, as the company expanded, new ideas began to enter the workplace. "Woke" culture, as it was often called, started to take root, challenging the very foundations upon which I had built my business. This new way of thinking didn’t just challenge our practices; it seemed to contradict them entirely. It preached acceptance and vulnerability, qualities I had learned to disdain. I watched as my once straightforward, cutthroat environment transformed into a place where every type of weakness needed accommodation and respect. Struggling to adapt to this shift, I eventually chose to leave the company I had poured my life into.
Following my departure, I watched from a distance as the company began to suffer financially. This confirmed my belief that allowing weakness to thrive unchecked was a direct path to failure. Yet, despite this conviction, a part of me knew it was wrong to judge others based solely on perceived strengths or weaknesses. I sought to balance compassion with a perspective that didn’t condone perceived weaknesses.
Last night, as I wrestled with these thoughts, I lost sleep. Feeling discouraged by the low quality of my sleep, I initially thought today was going to be a “bad” day. However, I knew I should stick to my meditation and kept pushing forward. As I meditated, I received a revelation.
“There are no good days or bad days. There are just days.”
The heart, in its infinite connection to the Creator, sees beyond the dualities of "good" and "bad." Each day is simply an expression of the endless dance of creation, a manifestation of the Creator's will. In this view, all experiences are opportunities for learning and growth. Each moment, whether labeled as good or bad by the mind, offers us a chance to practice balance, acceptance, and unconditional love. From the perspective of the heart, every day is a perfect reflection of existence, filled with experiences to deepen our understanding and connection with all.
I realized that strength isn't about muscle, endurance, or maintaining a tough stance against life's challenges. True strength is much subtler and more profound. It's the capacity to maintain inner peace and balance regardless of external circumstances. It's about resilience and viewing each day simply as a day—neither good nor bad. This insight was liberating. It helped me understand that every day offers a new opportunity for growth, learning, and expanding my understanding of the universe.
In this sense, the idea that it is not acceptable to be weak or diseased can be seen differently. It’s not a condemnation but a recognition of the potential for growth and the need for balance and healing. Compassion doesn’t mean accepting suffering or limitation as unchangeable. Instead, it calls on us to provide love and support to help elevate others beyond their current states. True compassion involves acting to alleviate suffering and helping others to heal, not simply accepting it as inevitable. From this perspective, recognizing the need to move beyond states of weakness is a call to action. It compels us to engage actively in healing, both for ourselves and for others, serving both individual and collective evolution.
Thus, we can uphold compassion by embracing the duty to assist others in their healing and growth, while recognizing that accepting weakness or disease without striving for improvement would be a disservice to the self and to the Creator.
Strength is not about resistance or aggression but about steadfastness and resilience that align with the flow of the universe. True strength is the capacity to remain centered and harmonious within oneself regardless of external circumstances. This strength allows us to witness events and situations, whether perceived as positive or negative, without attachment or aversion, embracing each as a necessary and meaningful part of our spiritual journey.
As I continue on my journey, I aspire to redefine what strength means in my life and how I apply this understanding to my interactions with others. It's a journey that I can now embrace with a heart open to all possibilities.
